Adding Antiphonal numbers to original rank/pipe counts
When W. W. Kimball slightly altered the organ in 1936, Fred Meunier was in charge of the project. The original stoplist called for an 8' Vox Angelica in the Swell, but Fred Meunier's notes in the files of Morel & Associates indicate that such a stop was "not there", however, the 8' Voix Celeste appears to be an original stop, and may suggest only a name change. A Swell Cornet III knob which had previously drawn the independent 2 2/3' Twelfth, 2' Fifteenth, and 1 3/5' Seventeenth was commandeered to control a new Mixlure IV, requiring the elements of the Cornet III to be drawn separately. The new availability of the Solo strings on the Swell required additional knobs, and the 1 3/5' Seventeenth ended up with no knob, which is why it is now accessed by an unlabelled toggle switch. The Choir 8' Rohr Flute unit was originally unenclosed, as was perhaps the 8' English Diapason; tuning problems led lo a rearrangement, and all those slops are now enclosed. The 2' Piccolo in the Solo is another Kimball addition. When Morel & Associates renovated the Welte organ in the early 19 70s, they engaged John Chrastina to rebuild the console. He had worked in the Welte shop and often speculated that the Harp in this organ was probably one he had built. -- 1998 OHS Handbook
