Andrew Henderson on November 16th, 2024:

According to The Moncton Transcript (November 17, 1915): "The new pipe organ which has been recently purchased by St. John's Presbyterian Church, is now being installed. The organ was purchased from the Canadian Pipe Organ Company of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, at about $7,000. The Canadian Pipe Organ Company is a comparatively new firm, but is rapidly gaining reputation as organ builders. The appearance of the organ is worthy of note in many respects, it is divided into two parts, one on either side of the choir ... This is the first organ fitted with electric action in this city, and probably the only one in the lower provinces outside of Halifax and St. John."

Andrew Henderson on May 2nd, 2022:

It is conjectured that the 1915 instrument of this church was built by the Canadian Pipe Organ Co., which was rebuilt by Casavant Frères in 1959. A 1918 advertisement of this firm published in The Diapason lists "Methodist Church, Moncton, N.B."; however, this church was a Presbyterian Church prior to Church Union in 1925. It is likely the denomination listed in the advertisement was misconstrued.
