Database Manager on October 13th, 2015:

Altered and relocated existing organ. Identified by William Dunklin, using information from this web site: http://www.landmarktheatres.com/milwaukee/oriental-theatre/kimball-organ.

Kimball Op. 6946 was built in 1927 as a III/28 for the Stanley Theatre, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but was never installed there. After 4 years in storage, in 1931 it was installed at the Grand Theatre (nee Warner) Milwaukee. It remained there until 1973 when it again went into storage.

Opus 6949 was moved to the Oriental Theatre where it was renovated and enlarged using as many period appropriate Kimball parts as possible. It returned to regular use in 1991.
