New 4-manual console and Pedal additions by Casavant in 1966.
Updated through on-line information from Douglas Adams.
Identified through on-line information from Douglas Adams. -- "Largest Church Organ In Western Canada" (Victoria Daily Colonist, 1910-07-08, during erection) - a magnum opus from the height of the orchestral period. Recitalists in its early years included: Joseph Bonnet, Marcel Dupré, Charles M. Courboin, Alfred Hollins, Louis Vièrne. (ref: Victoria Daily Times, 1927-03-15) In 1997 on the amalgamation of Metropolitan and First United Churches, Victoria Conservatory of music bought the building with organ. Construction of a stage necessitated removal of the fixed console. Seismic upgrading necessitated removal of the blower room. The existing console is on display in the lobby, across from the office counter. The organ was renovated by Grant Smalley in 2010 and an older Casavant console was rebuilt and updated to serve as the present console.
