Updated through online information from Richard Schneider.
This organ was a rebuild of the original Roosevelt, which was in turn rebuilt in the late 1990's by the H.A.Howell Pipe Organ Company of Dixon, IL

Database Manager on February 21st, 2016:

Updated through online information from Rich Schneider. Here is a write-up on the organ project from the church website:
"The original organ for the present Church Building was a Roosevelt Opus 146 purchased from St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church in Chicago. It was upgraded at that time with two sets of reed pipes. In May of 1947 the Reuter Company rebuilt the organ using existing pipework. The Reuter organ was installed behind a large plaster grille on the left side of the sanctuary.

The H.A. Howell Pipe Organs Company of Dixon, Illinois, in conjunction with Dr. Gary Zwicky (former St. John's organist-director) as consultant and historian for the organ renovation project, completed the newly rebuilt organ, in late 1986. Volunteers from the congregation assisted in the physical details of the organ installed behind an oak organ case, designed to harmonize with the sanctuary furnishings.

Also included in this work were a new two manual and pedal console, electric-slider chests, and several new ranks of pipes. It was first used on Christmas Eve, 1986 and then dedicated on March 1st, 1987. The organ had twenty-six ranks of pipes, with approximately half from the original organ. In 2012 additional voices were added to the organ by Robert G. Dial bringing the total to 38 ranks. Through the years many hymns have been played and concerts provided which clearly illustrate the beautiful sounds amplified within St. John's church."
