This work by Hall represents an electrification and modification of the historic Hook organ from 1849. The Hook-Hall organ was discarded in the late 1970s when the church opted to buy a fake imitation instead of spending the money to restore the Hook. Richard Hamar rescued the Hook pipework, most of which was recycled in the organ Jeremy Cooper subsequently installed in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Gloucester, Mass. Christ Church retained the Hook case to hide the loudspeakers, but it was altered by being considerably reduced in depth to increase the choir seating space in its transept gallery. While the Hook case remained in-situ to the end-- the 1970s imitation had predicatably failed by the 2000 teens and was replaced by a leased electrone. The church closed in 2021 and the imitation was repossessed. The future fate of the building is uncertain.
Identified through information in Classified List of Hall Organs, published in 1929 by Hall Organ Co., West Haven, Connecticut.
