In 1914, the W B. Williams Co. made some tonal changes. These were a Viol d'Orchestra and Vox Celeste in the Swell; and a Dolce, Gamba and Clarinet in the Great.

In 1949, Skinner returned to Taunton in his 83rd year to rebuild the organ. He replaced the console and appended electropneumatic pulldown mechanisms and slide motors to the Hook slider chests. Fourteen of the original 1864 stops and three of the 1914 ranks were retained. This work, which cost $5,474, was more a superficial remodeling than a comprehensive rebuilding. The pulldown mechanisms were mounted on the floor some four feet below the pallet boxes, connected by thin wires to the windchests. This made quick repetition of notes nearly impossible. Tonally, Skinner merely replaced ranks with some of his signature stops - solo reeds, flutes, strings and celestes.
