Database Manager on September 19th, 2014:

Updated through online information from David Lewis. -- According to several histories, the first pipe organ in the city of St. Joseph was purchased around 1869 by the Congregational Society for their new building in the 900 block of Edmond. It may have been this instrument. Holsey Chapel (then AME) was organized in 1882 and worshiped at 16th & Beattie until acquired the former Trinity (German) Methodist Church (ca. 1885) and its 1895 Hinners & Albertsen pipe organ, located at 3rd and Robidoux about 1954. There is no record of this congregation owning a pipe organ prior to 1895. This organ was sold and relocated to the successory congregation, Ashland United Methodist, prior to demolition of the building in 1973.

Database Manager on October 30th, 2004:

Moved to bldg. that was German Methodist, then Trinity Methodist, containing 2 man. Hinners c. 1954. Old Holsey Chapel AME (this bldg.) demolished long ago. [the bldg. razed c. 1973?]
