Opened in a private event, 2000 invited guests, Saturday, February 29, 1908. Greek Hall was mentioned as well as the location for regular daily recitals, with a beautiful new organ to be installed. See DOCUMENTS tab for full Philadelphia Inquirer article.
From Osche book on Austin organs: Pedal/Solo Magnaton of special construction: 24 heavy reed pipes for the first two octaves, followed by a pedal wood (probably for one octave) and then a 37 scale solo diapason. This rank and the solo division were added late in the design process and spoke on 15" of wind. Sold to a Canadian buyer in late 1930s.
Organ sold off in 1938. Egyptian hall converted to office and storage spaces.
