Born 1758? in Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland; graduate King's College, Aberdeen, 1774; ordained deacon, 1778, and priest, 1780; immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, ca. 1785; in Rhode Island, 1790; in New York, 1800; author and composer; built small organs 1800-1810 in New York City. Smith died April 6, 1821, in New York City, New York.
